EXCLUSIVE: Farmer Want’s a Wife Matt and Olivia’s Baby Joy! | Now to love

When the time comes for Matt Young and Olivia Benic to share their love story with newborn son Henry one day, “I might just tell him to go watch it on TV,” Matt jokes to Women’s Day.

The couple will celebrate three years together this month after meeting on reality show Farmer Wants A Wife.

“It was my birthday when we met, so we combined the time we met with my birthday and made it a fun celebration,” says new mom Olivia, 26.

And this year they’ll have a cute plus one – much to the surprise of Farmer’s fans!

“After being on Farmer, we realized we wanted to keep some things private. We just wanted to keep this pregnancy to ourselves,” says Olivia Women’s Day. “We told our close circle when we were about 15 weeks old and no one said anything. No one deceived us [laughs].”

HELLO, HENRIQUE!

The new parents finally shared their happy news with the world after their son Henry – 25-year-old Matt’s middle name – arrived on August 15.

“We didn’t know how quickly we would get pregnant,” says Olivia. “But we’re really happy with how it all turned out.”

The birth was also quick! “We had been waiting for a long time for me to be in labor because he was our first child, but it ended up being about eight hours. I had to recover afterwards so Matt could spend some quality time with Henry.”

“It was great nesting those first few weeks,” says proud dad Matt of settling into their new life as the couple pose on their family farm in Bookham, NSW.

The pair bought their own house in nearby Yass in March and moved there in May.

“We’re just trying to figure out what works for Henry and navigating parenthood, but we have each other,” says a beaming Olivia.

“We laugh because we always run into these fun little challenges – like television and even moving in together – but just like everything else, we face it head on.”

Luckily, the new mom says much of parenthood “happened naturally” and sweet Henry “was a really good baby, so we’re really lucky.”

“We’re the first of our friends to have kids, so that’s been a challenge,” Olivia adds. “But our parents and siblings have always existed.”

They also had a lot of support from their fellow farming couples. “I’ve been talking to Clare [Hockings] (who also appeared in the 2023 season and welcomed a son with farmer Brad [Jones] last December) and she got some great parenting advice, so that was really good,” says Olivia.

WHAT’S NEXT

Now, Matt says a wedding is “absolutely” in the plans.

“We had the boyfriend first, so as soon as we figure that out, we’ll do the next thing,” Olivia says with a smile.

They also plan to expand their family.

“When he first appeared,

I said, ‘Oh my God, I’ll never have another kid again,’ because it’s a huge life change, but once you settle in, it’s easier to imagine having more kids. I don’t know how many we’ll have, but we want to make sure Henry has some siblings around,” says Olivia.

Matt confesses that the reality TV process was “very difficult to go through,” but he says, “I’m so grateful to have found Livvy and to have our happy little family now.” “We’re introducing him to horses,” says Olivia.

“He’s a cute little boy,” Matt says of his son.

“All the farmers got in touch and sent good wishes,” says Matt. ‘I’m so grateful to have our happy little family’
